the West Begins
Sculpture
Show & Sale
Lewisville, TX

“Where
the West Begins,” a collection of Western artwork
by several members of our Sculptureworks consortium,
will be exhibited in the Art Gallery at the MCL Grand
Theater Sept. 28 through Nov. 3, 2012.
The gallery is located inside the Medical Center of
Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street, in
the heart of historic Old Town in Lewisville, TX. Admission
to the exhibit is free. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday
through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. To schedule group visits
during other hours, please call 972.219.8446.
The exhibit will focus on bronze sculpture pieces but
will also include some oils and etchings.
The exhibit opening coincides with the two-day Western
Days festival, an annual event started in 1964 that
celebrates the Western heritage of Lewisville. Festival
activities include live music, Western re-enactments,
and more.
To reach the MCL Grand from Interstate 35E:
Take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles
Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking
is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville
City Hall across Church Street from the center. Parking
is not allowed in the grass lot across Church Street
from the center.

A
special guest lecture by Sculptor Tuck
Langland on the history and experience of public
art will take place in conjunction with the "Where
the West Begins" Sculpture Show & Sale on Sunday,
Oct. 14, at 4 p.m. at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville,
TX.
The
author of two acclaimed books on sculpture, Tuck is
dedicated to art and the teaching of art. A retired
Professor of Sculpture from the South Bend campus of
Indiana University (where he taught from 1971 to 2003),
Tuck designed and built the school’s sculpture
studio from scratch, including the foundry.
