"The
sculpture "Lord of the Couch" was inspired by Lena Leonardsson,
who commissioned me to sculpt her dapper, departed Wokie. She convinced
me he had the perfect personality for me to sculpt. In addition to being
a spoiled boy, he was an all-around good worker. From October 1993 to
April 1996, he participated in Earth Dog tests and placed in nine field
trials. He was awarded a Certificate of Gameness by the American Working
Terrier Association. He knew no strangers. When our smooth boy, Edgar,
acted as if he owned our couch, Wokie in clay, became "Lord of the
Couch." After my husband, Brian, named it, I learned the title was
quite appropriate. When Wokie wasn't busy hunting rabbits, cornering woodchucks,
or doing his Wokie-doodle dance, he was a real couch man. He spent a lot
of time perched on top of the back of the couch. Imagine and enjoy."
