Madame C. J. Walker (1867 - 1919) was America's first important African American hair care manufacturer. She was the inventor of hair and scalp treatment, an entrepreneur, an educator and a philanthropist.

The above bas relief is located at the National Cosmetology Association Hall of Fame.
