"Slicker
Shy" by Herb Mignery is Dedicated
at the Lewisville, TX, City Hall
August

| The
18' high monumental sculpture "Slicker
Shy" by Sculptor Herb
Mignery was recently displayed at the City Hall in Lewisville,
TX.
The sculpture previously resided in the main lobby of the Sheraton
Dallas Hotel (formerly the Adam's Mark Hotel). After a $90 million
renovation, however, the hotel owners decided to remove the sculpture
and find it a new home. Thus, the sculpture was placed on loan from
the Sheraton Dallas to the City of Lewisville by consignment through
Sculptureworks. Upon the completion of the installation, the City
of Lewisville held a dedication ceremony to recognize the installation
contributors and the Sheraton Dallas Hotel for their generosity
and hard work in bringing "Slicker Shy" to Lewisville.
Ray Hammer, General Manager of the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, said,
"We are happy that our hotel’s transformation has provided
an opportunity for the City of Lewisville to offer its residents
a new reason to visit Old Town.”
Lewisville
Old Town Business Association (OTBA) President Amanda Ferguson said
businesses in the historic district are excited to see public art
being brought to the area. “The Old Town Business Association
is pleased to have played a part in arranging for 'Slicker Shy'
to be displayed in historic Old Town Lewisville,” Ferguson
said. “The mission of OTBA is to promote the Old Town area,
and this display will certainly add a quality aspect to it.”
Ray Hammer, Amanda Ferguson, and several City of Lewisville officials
were present at the dedication ceremony of the sculpture on August
26. This is the first monumental piece of public art to be put on
display in Lewisville.
